I have had various interests, including writing, making art, and traveling the world as a missionary. I had written my first fantasy trilogy by the time I turned 19 and have since published 5+ books. To go along with my literary interests, I am an artist and an illustrator. I've illustrated my own childrens' books and done fine art for years. I graduated with an AA in Fine Art from Santa Rosa Junior College and am hoping to go on to get my Bachelor's degree in Illustration.
I love God with all my heart and my greatest aspiration is to have His light shine through my life. I did a DTS (Discipleship Training School) through YWAM Kona in 2012 and then went on to staff on base after that. I love YWAM and have a huge heart for the nations, so I'm not sure what's next in that field. Colossians 3:1-4 <3 Psalm 27 <3
As a missionary, I've relied greatly on the generous support I have been entrusted with. Even when I am not currently on a trip, I know that missions is the call on my life and I am always saving up for my next opportunity to go out and share the love of Christ. I receive one time donations as well as monthly gifts. Please pray about joining my monthly team; even as little as $20 a month helps! If you feel led to sow into that now or in the future, here's how:
[NEW] If you would like your gift to be Tax Deductible, you can mail checks to PO Box 3789 Santa Rosa, CA 95402 addressed to 'Vertical Call' with a separate note attached that designates that it is for Erika Birkene's missions fund.
If you do not need it to be Tax Deductible, money will get to me much faster if you PayPal me at email@example.com
Donation or not, please keep me and my team in your prayers!!! I would love to keep anyone and everyone updated who wants to know, so if you want to receive my update e-mails, let me know at firstname.lastname@example.org
I haven't communicated as publicly since I completed the Discipleship Bible School program in 2015. I have been at home in northern California working and going to college. I will graduate as a triple-major with highest honors from SRJC in 2017, if everything goes to plan. From there, I'm either going to transfer directly or take a gap year to work before going on for my Bachelors. I'm leaving that in God's hands for now.
Being a missionary was a very important part of my life in past years and I still have a passion for it. I don't know when I will get to return, either in a long or short term capacity, but I leave that in God's hands. For now, my mission field is California and my community is on a college campus. It's not where I would have predicted myself spending so much time, but it would seem that God had other plans. All I can do is live a life full of His grace and love as I figure out what exactly I'm doing.
